SUMMARY:Vacant Lots to Pop-up Parks
DESCRIPTION:Vacant lots plague urban and suburban landscapes. However\, relatively low cost solutions are possible that can directly address many local and global environmental problems. In this talk\, Bryan Quinn\, founder and principal of One Nature LLC based in Beacon\, NY will describe several built examples of vacant lots that his company has transformed to ecologically productive places. One Nature uses regenerative design principles to change the future of these lots by turning them into better appreciated community gardens\, pollinator gardens\, or public parks. The talk is hosted by the The Environmental Cooperative at the Vassar Barns and has been funded in part by a grant from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund through the Hudson River Estuary Program of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. It is FREE and open to the public.
