In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Jewish Federation of Dutchess County and the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum invite the community to a special screening of The Mortal Storm (1940), one of the earliest Hollywood films to confront the rise of Nazi antisemitism.
Through the story of a German family torn apart by fear, conformity, and moral choice, the film reveals how antisemitism escalates when it is tolerated, normalized, and left unchallenged. The Mortal Storm is not only a work of cinema — it is a warning, reminding us that the Holocaust did not begin with camps, but with words, exclusion, and silence.
