POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 21, 2025)Our Lady of Lourdes High School (OLL), a co-educational, college-preparatory Catholic high school serving students from across the Hudson Valley, today announced its plans to honor the legacy of Coach Brian Giorgis by dedicating its gymnasium in his name. Giorgis served as the head coach of the OLL girls basketball program for 19 seasons, securing nine New York state championships, 19 league championships, and amassing 451 wins and 44 losses.

“Coach Brian Giorgis didn’t just win state championships,” said OLL Principal Meghan Vilardo, “he inspired generations of young men and women, teaching them the meaning of discipline, teamwork, and excellence - all hallmarks of a Lourdes graduate. We are honored to dedicate this gymnasium in recognition of his unparalleled career accomplishments. For decades, he poured his heart and soul into our students, pushing them to achieve things they never thought possible. This dedication is a small way for us to thank him for his incredible contributions to Our Lady of Lourdes.”

Brian Giorgis finished his 25-year career at OLL with 20 Section 1 Championships combined in basketball, softball, volleyball, and baseball, and is the only scholastic coach to make NY State Final Four appearances in four different sports. He was inducted into the The New York State Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and the The New York State Public High School Athletic Association in 2010 and 2024, respectively. Giorgis continued his coaching career at Marist University, where he coached from 2002 until his retirement in 2023.
