COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP FOR DUTCHESS COUNTY ANNOUNCES NEW LOCATION OF SOUTHERN DUTCHESS FAMILY DEVELOPMENT CENTER
CAPDC has been serving the southern Dutchess Communities for over 30 years. Throughout this time, the entire Southern Dutchess region has seen many changes, but CAPDC remains a constant support to those who are struggling with financial insecurities.
Community Action Agencies are local private and public nonprofits founded by the 1964 Economic Opportunities Act to fight poverty. The agency’s core federal funding is the Community Services Block grant but is also supported through a variety of state and local grants. CAPDC weatherization program is funded through New York State Home and Community Renewal program and US Department of Energy.
Services provided include benefit assessment, family development supports, food pantry, weatherization services, prescription assistance, emergency financial assistance, access to free tax preparation assistance, referral supports to Dress for Success Dutchess County, and much more.
“We are delighted to serve Dutchess County residents in our new Wappingers Falls location,” said Linda Haas Manley, CEO of Community Action Partnership for Dutchess County. “We rely on our strong community partners to ensure that we can fulfill the promise of Community Action. Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, and improves communities. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other. In addition, we are grateful to Margaret “Peg” O’Leary, Chief Executive Officer of Community Services Programs, Inc. in Wappingers Falls, for supporting the work of CAPDC.”
Community Action Partnership for Dutchess County operates three additional family development centers in Dutchess County that are located at 77 Cannon Street, Poughkeepsie, 3414 Route 22 in Dover, and 44 East Market Street, in Red Hook. More information about programs and services can be found at Dutchesscap.org or by calling 845-452-5104.
