Fur-ever Friends: Guardian Revival Awards Companion Dogs Through Boots & Paws Program

Guardian Revival, a nonprofit serving guardians – a collective term for military members, veterans and first responders – and their families across the Hudson Valley, awarded two companion dogs free of charge through its Boots & Paws initiative. The puppies, which have been named Clover Bell and Luna, were each sponsored for $5,000 by Resorts World Hudson Valley and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 144. Collectively, these two organizations have sponsored 16 companion dog partnerships. 

"Boots & Paws is rooted in the therapeutic benefits of dog ownership," said Kim Haight, CEO of Guardian Revival. "I've seen firsthand the effect that these puppies have on entire families, from creating a sense of purpose to reducing stress and anxiety. By thoughtfully matching each guardian and their family to the dog that's right for them, our team is able to facilitate meaningful connections that positively impact households for years to come."

As part of the organization's commitment to providing services at no cost, puppies are awarded with a comprehensive care package, including a 12-month timeline of financial and expert support. Boots & Paws also oversees a mobile Facility Service Dog division – which brings trained service dogs on visits to police departments, fire stations, veterans hospitals and residences across the Hudson Valley – to add a special touch of comfort to corporate, educational and community events. Since Guardian Revival's launch in 2019, Boots & Paws has awarded 150 companion dogs and orchestrated more than 3,700 therapeutic interactions.
