Health Quest Community Education is Promoting National CPR and AED Awareness Week National CPR and AED Awareness Week is June 1-7 and emphasizes how lives can be saved if more individuals were trained in CPR and the importance of knowing how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). During the week of June 1-7, Health Quest Community Education will conduct additional American Heart Association (AHA) Friends & Family CPR/AED classes to raise awareness on the importance of CPR and AED training. Health Quest will offer one training class at each of its three hospitals free to community residents. The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR with breaths and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the AHA's research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. Family & Friends CPR is a basic course and does not offer a certification card upon completion. Classes will be held at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Northern Dutchess Hospital & Putnam Hospital Center on the following dates: Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Joseph Tower Auditorium Monday, June 2nd, 2014 from 11am – 3pm Northern Dutchess Hospital, Board Room Wednesday, June 4th, 2014 from 11am – 3pm Putnam Hospital Center, Michael Weber Conference Room Thursday, June 5th, 2014 from 11am – 3pm You must call (845) 475-9742 and register to attend. Registration will be handled on a first come first serve basis and space is limited.
